Medical Assisting Program

   

 In this  program, students will delve into a broad spectrum of medical knowledge, encompassing the history of medicine, legal and ethical considerations, patient care, medication types and administration, administrative duties, vital sign monitoring, anatomy and physiology, various medical conditions across body systems, diverse medical fields, dosage calculations, injections, phlebotomy, EKG, urinalysis, patient positioning, body mechanics, minor office surgery, bandaging, and emergency preparedness.

    Throughout the course, students will master an array of essential skill sets, including adherence to infection control and safety guidelines, adept maintenance of medical equipment, preparation of treatment rooms and procedure trays, accurate recording of medical histories, proficient vital sign assessment, CPR proficiency, proper handling and processing of urine and stool samples, application of dressings, suture removal, sharps and hazardous waste disposal, patient care and administrative skills, phlebotomy, EKG, microbiology, and urinalysis. Upon successful program completion, students will be eligible to sit for the MedCA certification exam. Additionally, the course ensures students are well-prepared for the workforce by incorporating a medical records component, where they learn the SIM CHART medical office workflow, facilitating navigation and data entry in a medical office environment.

  3. CERTIFIED EKG TECHNICIAN

***REQUIREMENTS FOR ENROLLMENT INTO THE PHLEBOTOMY COURSES:

  • GED or High School Diploma

  • Hepatitis B vaccine series (need proof of immunization record to start laboratory procedures)
