In this comprehensive program, students will delve into the multifaceted role of a phlebotomy technician, gaining a profound understanding of duties, responsibilities, and safety considerations within their work environment. The curriculum encompasses a thorough exploration of blood cells, blood vessels, and diverse specimen collection methods, including venipuncture, capillary puncture, specimen transport, and specialized phlebotomy procedures.
As students progress, they will acquire proficiency in essential skill sets, such as mastering the proper order of draw, securing blood samples through both venipuncture and capillary puncture techniques, accurately labeling tubes, skillfully processing specimens, and adhering to guidelines for the safe disposal of sharps and hazardous waste. Successful completion of the program positions students to confidently sit for the MedCA certification exam, validating their expertise in the field.
